The Global Summit on Disinformation presents its preliminary agenda

The 6th Global Summit on Disinformation 2026 presents its consolidated program, further establishing itself as one of the leading international forums for debate on information integrity and the fight against manipulation. This year’s agenda will focus on the various strategies and initiatives being implemented to increase the visibility of trustworthy content and mitigate the effects of disinformation.

The Summit will open on Wednesday, May 27 with NewsGuard’s session, focused on standards for measuring information credibility, its approach to identifying trustworthy sources, and tracking the spread of false narratives at a global scale. The opening of Thursday, May 28 will be led by Science Feedback, with a keynote conference focused on analyzing the large-scale circulation of disinformation across digital platforms.

The program will also explore the emerging challenges posed by AI-generated disinformation. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover new synthetic content detection tools such as IdentifAI and its user-friendly interface, as well as Thomas Germain’s (BBC) experiment demonstrating how easily AI chatbots can be deceived by false or manipulated information.

The Summit will take place on May 27–28, 2026, in a 100% virtual, free, and bilingual format (Spanish/English). Register for free here.

The agenda also includes a Funding Roundtable aimed at strengthening journalism and trustworthy information, featuring details on available grants and open opportunities.

Among the featured initiatives, Benjamin Sabbah will present the latest developments from RSF’s Journalism Trust Initiative. From Spain, Alberto Berrocal will showcase the DesinfoSTOP report by Fundación Comunicando Futuro. Lluís Cucarella (Laboratorio de Periodismo) will share research on mechanisms for building trust in media-generated information.

A dedicated block on technology for information integrity will highlight tools for deepfake detection, narrative monitoring systems, and AI-powered developments focused on real-time content verification and authentication. This session will feature Latin American-born project NetVora, alongside updates on advanced tools such as Atom and IdentifAI.

The program also includes a space dedicated to media and information literacy (MIL), featuring regional leaders such as Silvia Bacher (UNESCO MIL), Pablo Pagés (Ceibal, Uruguay), and Ana Laura Maltos Tamez from Tecnológico de Monterrey’s OMD, who will present VerifactzGPT, a chatbot designed to support the development of MIL competencies.

As part of the program, selected projects from thematic rounds will also be presented, including sessions on Disinformation and Health, addressing AI-generated fake doctors and miracle cancer cures amplified on YouTube. A session dedicated to Disinformation and Climate Change will also take place, among many other highlights that will be part of this sixth edition of the Global Summit on Disinformation.
