The VI Global Summit on Disinformation, taking place on May 27–28, 2026, online, free of charge and bilingual, will open with a keynote by NewsGuard, one of the leading organizations globally in assessing the reliability of online information.
The keynote will be delivered by Chine Labbe, Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Managing Editor for Europe and Canada, an expert in information integrity who has advised and testified before the European Parliament and other institutions on disinformation and platform accountability.
NewsGuard’s approach—based on a systematic, human, and transparent analysis of source credibility—has become a key reference for understanding how information circulates in digital environments. Through nine apolitical and publicly available journalistic criteria—ranging from how corrections are handled to transparency in funding—the organization assigns trust scores that help distinguish reliable information in saturated contexts.
This methodology is particularly relevant in high-volume information environments and fast-moving events, where disinformation can quickly spread and gain traction. In this context, NewsGuard’s role in opening the Summit highlights a concrete priority: how to assess the quality of information in real time using clear, consistent standards.
“Having Chine Labbeopen the Summit is no coincidence. We want to start from a very concrete place: how information quality is assessed today and what tools we have to bring order to an increasingly polluted information ecosystem. That’s exactly what NewsGuard brings—method, evidence, and scale,” said Adrián Pino, from the Summit’s organizing team.
This same approach runs throughout the Summit’s program, which is structured around four key themes: Trust in Dispute, Rethinking Disinformation Research, Innovate to Act, and Educating for Critical Thinking.
